Supplied with a lightweight headband type boom microphone and optional lapel microphone. A necklace and belt clip attachment make the device easy to carry, and simple to wear and remove.

Also has a facility for use with a computer or mobile phone making it all the more versatile for the user.

Enhancing even the faintest of voices with minimal effort...

Designed to help young or elderly people with voice disorders or acquired communication difficulties, that have resulted from Parkinson’s, multiple system atrophy, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis, suffering a stroke, or other vocal damage resulting from surgery around the vocal chords or voice box.

For people with a week or strained voice, possibly caused by vocal damage, or for people who rely on projecting their voices for a long period of time and therefore using their voice intensively, this voice amplifier will maintain volume and clarity over that period of time without straining or causing further damage to the voice.

Can assist by enhancing even the faintest of voices with minimal effort required by the user, thus giving the user more confidence, and helping control the volume of his or her voice amongst a group of people.

Personal Voice Amplifier Instructions

1. Before use, you will need to charge the voice amplifier. To do this simply plug the charger into the top socket DC 9V (4) on the side of the voice amplifier unit for 3 to 5 hours.

2. When the voice amplifier is charging, you will see a flashing red light (1). When fully charged , the red light will stop flashing and remain constant until you disconnect the charger. Your voice amplifi er is now ready to use for up to 12 hours.

3. Before plugging in a microphone ensure the unit is switched off. To switch off simply roll the volume switch (7) to the left until it clicks shut. Select the microphone you wish to use – headset or clip on lapel, (or optional throat microphone – not included in this pack), and plug into mic socket (6) on the side of voice amplifier unit.

4. When using the voice amplifier, a blue light (2) will appear and when you plug in a microphone an orange light (3) will appear to tell you the microphone is connected and your voice amplifier is ready to use.

5. Always start with a low volume by rolling the volume switch (7) to the right a little, and then increase this action until you reach the required volume.

6. Avoid the microphone being too close to the voice amplifier speaker as this can trigger feedback interference (a squealing sound) from your speaker.

7. Do not hold the microphone any closer than 2.5cm (1”) from your mouth.

8. You have a choice of headset microphone or clip on microphone. Both have recently been upgraded for even better performance. The lapel microphone was omni-directional (picks up sound all around in the room) and is now uni-directional which means it is now directed towards your mouth and therefore more efficient.

9. The clip on microphone can be clipped onto your lapel, collar, or clothing. You can even clip the microphone onto your cuff (cable can be hidden by running it inside clothing) then simply raise your hand to the proximity of your mouth when you wish to speak.

10. The Aux socket (5) on the side of your voice amplifier is for use with your mobile phone or PC. Simply plug one end of the auxillary cable provided into the Aux socket (5) and the other end into your phone or PC speaker / audio-in socket.

11. If you also wish to use the unit for playing music, you can use the TF card socket (13) or USB flash drive (MP3) socket (8). You can then select MODE (10) (short press ‘M’ to switch U disc to TF card play, and long press MODE (10) for continuous play (loop) – additional functions for playing music are Play/Pause (10), Previous (9) and Next (12).

Your speech can be defined by Tone + Intonation + Pitch

What is Tone? Tone represents the quality of sound of a voice.  The 'tone' of someone's voice may indicate their actual emotions.

What is Intonation? Intonation refers to the music of a voice; this basically means how a person's voice falls and rises when speaking

What is pitch? The pitch of a voice is the degree of lowness or highness that someone speaks with. Pitch is an integral part of the human voice and the pitch of a voice is defined as the "rate of vibration of the vocal folds". The sound of the voice changes as the rate of vibrations varies. As the number of vibrations per second increases, so does the pitch, meaning the voice will sound higher.  Pitch is measured in Hertz (Hz) and ranges from 65 to 525Hz depending whether man, woman, or child.

This voice amplifier features a pitch modulator. This feature gives you an option to alter the sound of your voice to sound a little higher or lower. This can help a very soft voice or whisper become more defined and audible.

Pitch Modulation

When using the pitch modulator make sure the pitch modulator control 0 is on low before setting required volume, and only then, and if required, adjust the pitch modulator control to vary the sound of your voice.

Understanding your Voice Amplifier

Our voice amplifier is 18 watts which is far more powerful than most small portable voice amplifiers which are normally around 10 watts and consequently have to operate constantly at full volume. The advantage of 18 watts is you do not need to set the volume high. Always start with lowest volume and gradually increase to the required volume. This also helps avoid feedback (that screeching sound!)

Avoiding Feedbackd by the microphone being too close to the speaker. The microphone then picks up the output sound from the speaker which it then re-amplifies causing a loop. The loop is created by the microphone picking up the original amplified sound and amplifying it again and again until the sound can't be amplified anymore and that is when you get the screeching sound.

Note: Never switch on your Voice Amplifier whilst on charge, as this will cause interference and affect its performance.

When using lapel/clip-on microphone

Do not hold the microphone any closer than 2.5cm (1") from your mouth.
The clip on microphone can be clipped onto your lapel, collar, or clothing.
You can also use as a hand held microphone.
You can even clip the microphone onto your cuff (cable can be hidden by running it inside clothing) then simply raise your hand to the proximity of your mouth when you wish to speak.
The clip-on microphone is now uni-directional which means the mic is directed towards your mouth and will not pick up other sounds around you.

When using mobile phone or PC

Use the Aux socket 5 on the side of your voice amplifier.
Simply plug one end of the auxiliary cable provided into the Aux socket 5 and the other end into your mobile phone or PC speaker / audio socket.
This will amplify the sound of your voice to the listener and the listener's voice will also be amplified through the voice amplifier speaker for you.

Look after your voice

• Keep your vocal cords well hydrated: try drinking two litres of water a day. Avoid alcohol and caffeine. Always have a bottle of water to hand and take a sip whenever you feel the urge.
• Encourage others to come closer to you so that they can hear you.
• Take regular breaths to avoid straining at the end of sentences.
• Avoid talking against background noise.
• Do not shout or whisper and avoid long telephone calls.
• If you feel sore from using your voice, give it a rest for 30 minutes to an hour.
• Avoid throat clearing as it can irritate your throat further.
• If you suffer from heartburn, indigestion, or reflux, seek medical advice.
• Keep your home humidified by opening windows when you return home. (Avoid hot, dry environments).
• If you use an inhaler, rinse your mouth after use.
• Chewing a non-mint based gum often (particularly gum containing bicarbonate of soda) may help generate saliva and relax the muscles around the throat  through repetitious movement. It may also help with reflux (flow of stomach acid/contents) into the larynx.
• Steam inhalations can be soothing. Use them regularly. Aim for five minutes twice a day.

This is a type of contact microphone (also known as a transdermal microphone or laryngophone) that absorbs vibrations and sounds directly from the throat (voice box/larynx) by way of a sensor worn against the neck.
The sensor can pick up even the faintest whisper and unlike conventional microphones does not pick up other sounds in the room. It also avoids microphone feed back screeching associated with conventional microphones. Another advantage over conventional microphones is that it is inconspicuous even when wearing an open necked shirt or blouse. Positions around the back of the neck so that the sensor/microphone locates on your larynx (voice box).
Easy to use
Secures from back of neck leaving sensors located over voice box (larynx) Adjustable Not suitable for very small neck
