Additional Tech Tips: LED Light Indicator: The status of the BIGmack is displayed via the LED positioned above the record switch. Here's the LED color and light pattern for each status:

Red LED

Flashing, followed by a pause, followed by flashing - the battery is low
Steady Red for 1 second - the device is powered on
Steady - the device is in record mode
Continuous flashing - a message is being recorded
Single flash - a message is being played
Flashing, followed by audible warbled beep - the device's memory has been cleared

Yellow LED

Steady for 1 second - the device has no recorded message
Flashing (while in Record mode) - the device's memory/ storage is full

How Do I Record and Play New Messages on a Multi-Message Communicator?

Please follow the steps below to record a new message on a multi-message speech device

Ensure you've properly installed a 9V Alkaline battery into your device
Turn the device on
Press and hold the Record Switch until the LED lights up solid Red, then release the switch
Press and hold down the main switch top of your device. You will see the LED flashes Red when recording.
Speak your message into the communication device, then release the switch top to complete the recording
Continue using steps 4 & 5 for additional messages
When finished, press the Record Switch one time to exit record mode
You may now press the switch top of your device one time, and you should hear your first recording. Continue pressing the switch top to hear your additional recorded messages.

Levels Functionality

You can take advantage of additional levels on some speech devices to better segment your recorded messages. In order to do this, simply select the level you wish to record messages on, then follow the above steps 3-7 to record your messages.

How Do I Activate an External Device with a LITTLE Step-by-Step

The following are steps to set up your Little Step-by-Step to active an external device, such as a switch-adapted toy or appliance;

While recording a message, press the record button one time to assign the toy/appliance to that message
Once you've completed recording all messages, plug your toy or appliance into the 1/8-in (3.5-mm) labeled Toy/Appliance output on the back of the device.
The toy or appliance will now activate for the duration of the message

Please note the following

We recommend a message of at least 3-5 seconds for the output to activate your toy or appliance
You can increase the length of the toy or appliance activation time by recording a longer message
Some toys or appliances require a 1/8-in (3.5-mm) mono plug-to-plug adapter cable, that is included with your Little Step-by-Step, to connect an external device

The colored switch cap comes off while using the LITTLE Step-by-Step. Is there a way to secure it so it doesn’t come off as easily?

To better secure your switch top to the body of your LITTLE Step-by-Step, we recommend adding a small amount of semi-permanent adhesive to the threads of the switch top. This will provide additional resistance to help hold the switch top in place.

Elmer’s School Glue
Any hot glue from a hot glue crafting gun
Any thread seal tape (otherwise known as plumber’s tape)
Any removable mounting or poster putty
