OnScreen with CrossScanner

OnScreen with CrossScanner joins the Assistive Technology version of IMG's My-T-Soft Keyboards along with CrossScanner, RJ Cooper's Single-switch Windows control software. This is a special version for individuals that cannot use a mouse, trackball, or any other type of pointing device, and use a switch-based approach to operating their computer.

CrossScanner on-screen keyboard utility

Windows 8 / 8.1 Coming Soon!

OnScreen with CrossScanner is a highly sophisticated approach for operating a Microsoft Windows based system. By using CrossScanner and a single-switch, any point on the screen can be selected, and any mouse type operation such as clicks, double-clicks, drag, or right-clicks can be accomplished with a few switch hits. Then, using OnScreen and its built in features such as WordComplete, text input can be sent to any program for creating documents, e-mails, or performing simple text entry tasks, all driven by CrossScanner and the single-switch interface. With OnScreen and CrossScanner, a switch user can do anything an average user using a physical keyboard and mouse can do, enabling users who would otherwise be restricted to closed or limited environments. This opens up the entire computing universe to a single switch user.

CrossScanner Single Switch Access

OnScreen is used by individuals who need an alternative to the physical keyboard, and need an on-screen keyboard as their primary text input device
CrossScanner allows a single switch to operate and interact with Microsoft Windows.

OnScreen US Standard 101 Keyboard Layout with WordComplete / Action Panel
OnScreen provides On-Screen keyboard emulation that works with ANY Windows program. The Assistive Technology Version provides a wealth of features specifically designed for use by individuals who can not easily use common input devices.

CrossScanner provides single-switch scanning to individuals who cannot operate a mouse, trackball, or other pointing device, but are capable of triggering a single switch. Interfaces supported are through the mouse, joystick, or keyboard inputs. As a software publisher, IMG does not provide switches or any hardware - see our Assistive Technology Web Links for any hardware needs.

CrossScanner - Extensive options

CrossScanner presents a LineScan (vertical scan) when initially triggered to scan down the screen, so the user can select the Y coordinate for their click, double-click, or drag operation. The FingerScan (horizontal scan) begins with the IconWindow of Actions available (selectable by a switch hit), and then continues until the next switch hit, where the selected action occurs at the selected X/Y coordinate (e.g. double-click on an icon). If there is no switch hit, the FingerScan (Optional) begins a reverse scan to allow a right-click action. There are numerous other options available based on user requirements.

OnScreen is a Windows software program that provides a powerful interface through a ANY pointing device by providing on-screen keyboards, Word Prediction / Word Completion, user programmable macros, and complete control over all computer functions.

Technical Information

OnScreen with CrossScanner is a standard Windows Application and does not require any special drivers, and should work with all pointing device (mouse, touchscreen, pen, HID, etc.) interfaces, along with keyboard and mouse emulation drivers that are compatible with the ones that ship with Microsoft Windows.

There are countless of configuration options, settings, and special features available that have been added by customer requests since the original product release in 1994. Refer to the User's Guide for release specific technical notes, product options, and complete documentation.

What is CrossScanner?

CrossScanner is RJ Cooper's solution for individuals who cannot operate a standard mouse or trackball, but are capable of operating a single-switch. CrossScanner uses an X scan (LineScan) with a Y scan (FingerScan) to select any point on the screen - choices of Click, Double-Click, Drag, etc. are available to completely operate any Windows application. All development of CrossScanner is handled by IMG, and under license, we are able to provide IMG's OnScreen with CrossScanner.

Can I get CrossScanner without OnScreen?

Not from IMG - IMG is only licensed to sell CrossScanner with OnScreen. Since most users of CrossScanner will have the need to enter text from time to time, having OnScreen available will be very useful.

What kind of computer will OnScreen with CrossScanner run on?

Any PC Compatible computer capable of running Windows.

What kind of software will OnScreen with CrossScanner work with?

Any software that runs under Windows (and most DOS programs that can be run in a Windows DOS Shell environment).

How can OnScreen with CrossScanner work with all pointing devices and applications?

OnScreen is written at the same level as the Windows operating system. That means it runs above the pointing device and graphics drivers (it lets the device drivers do their job without creating conflicts) and runs below Windows so it doesn't compete with other applications. Unlike keys, buttons and panels created in Visual Basic, or onscreen keyboard and key panel applications that are sensitive to changes in pointing device / graphic card drivers or applications that make low level Windows calls, OnScreen is reliable and robust. That's why IMG is the only producer of onscreen keyboards and macro buttons/panels whose products are recommended or offered by major pointing device manufacturers worldwide.

How do I know OnScreen with CrossScanner will work for me?

Download our demo. IMG's demos are actually full working copies of the product. The demo has a built in timer that shuts down the program in about an hour without saving any settings (you can restart it by double-clicking on the program's Icon).
