STOP FREEZING. START WALKING.
We were inspired to design the LaserCue by Michael J. Fox. He encouraged us to make a version of our LaserCane that can be retrofitted to any cane so you can benefit from this technology while using the cane of your choice. Through our collaboration we have created the LaserCue module that allows you to enjoy an easier stride, while choosing a cane to fit your needs and personality—from classy to bold, wood or metal.
We are proud that with every purchase of the LaserCue, a donation is made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for helping in finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease.
Laser Cueing Has Been Proven Effective in Clinical Research
“This study identified that the LaserCane was the most effective cueing device for people with Parkinson’s disease compared to the other interventions tested.”
– Allied Health Research Unit, University of Central Lancashire, Preston, UK.
“The current study demonstrates that adding a laserlight visual cue to a cane or walker can lead to a modest reduction in FOG (Freezing) and may substantially reduce the frequency of falls in PD patients with FOG (Freezing).”
– Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts, USA.
What is the LaserCue?
The LaserCue is an innovative product designed to attach to any cane and reduce Parkinson’s freezing. It works by projecting a safe, obstacle-free red line on the floor to step toward, which can enable Parkinson’s patients with “freezing” episodes to walk with less hesitation, longer strides and more safety. The laser projects every time your cane touches the floor while walking. The LaserCue, appropriately named for how it works, uses laser cueing technology to reduce Parkinson’s freezing.
We at In-Step have been producing laser cueing products for almost twenty years, and we have helped over 30,000 people with Parkinson’s to walk more safely and with less hesitation.
The LaserCue module installs easily on canes that measure between 3/4″-7/8″ wide. Just slide the LaserCue up the body of the cane close to the handle and tighten the two thumbscrews on the back of the LaserCue to secure it to your cane. (Youtube assembly videos available)
The LaserCue is powered by two AA batteries that last many months and are easy to change without any tools.
A tremendous amount of effort was made to streamline the design and make the LaserCue highly durable and reliable. We designed the product with no moving parts and high quality components so you can trust that it will operate faithfully for many years.
This is a breakthrough product for Parkinson’s patients with freezing issues. I use it often and it always works great. I really think that this product could change and possibly even save lives.
