HeadMouse replaces the standard computer mouse for people who cannot use or have limited use of their hands. The HeadMouse translates natural movements of a user's head into directly proportional mouse pointer movement – move your head and the mouse pointer moves as well. The HeadMouse has a wireless optical sensor which tracks a tiny disposable target worn by the user on his/her forehead, glasses, or even a hat. It works just like a computer mouse, with the mouse pointer being controlled by head movement.
The HeadMouse will track head movement with the user comfortably located anywhere in front of his/her computer display. With HeadMouse Nano's high tracking resolution, pixel precise control is available to everyone. This precision allows a user to perform such tasks as drawing, photo editing, graphic illustration, and Computer Aided Design (CAD).
HeadMouse Nano connects to the computer, tablet or speech generating device through a USB port and operates using standard mouse drivers. No special software is required. The HeadMouse is powered by the host device, over the USB connection. The integrated tilt sensor automatically adapts to even the most unusual mounting orientations.
Selections and mouse button operations can be performed using a variety of adaptive switches, including Origin Instruments Sip/Puff Switch, Orby, and mouse button software, such as Dragger. Using Dragger, mouse clicks are performed by positioning the pointer and dwelling for a selectable period of time. HeadMouse Nano has an integrated infrared receiver for wireless adaptive switches, using our available Beam.

Access for Speech Generating Devices
HeadMouse Nano provides reliable head-controlled access to speech genrating devices, (also known as alternative and augmentative communication devices) that provide speech and environmental control. HeadMouse Nano integrates conveniently with dedicated systems from a variety of suppliers – Prentke Romich, Tobii DynaVox, Jabbla, and others.
If an augmentative communication device can be accessed with a standard USB mouse then it should be accessible with a HeadMouse.

There are several types of mounting brackets. There are the back and front style brackets designed for universal application to laptops, desktop displays, tablets, and most Speech Generating Devices (SGD), and custom brackets for specific devices.
The back style bracket is secured to the display using two adjustable and rubber tipped legs that clamp the aluminum bracket to the display. Place the bracket plate behind the display with the rubber tipped legs in front on the bezel. Then squeeze the legs against the bracket and tighten the two thumb screws. Squeeze enough to firmly hold the bracket in place, but not enough to damage your display.
HeadMouse rests on rubber pads and securely attaches to the bracket using Dual Lock. The rubber tipped legs and thumbscrew are clearly visible. To accomodate a variety of display thicknesses the bracket comes with a set of longer legs.
There is a second style of universal bracket that positiones the Headmouse on the front of the display. It uses rotating arms with thumb nuts and rubber fingers to accomodate different display thicknesses. It has a padded front tab that slides over the front of the display. The arms are rotated against the back of the display and capture the display between the tab and rubber fingers. Squeeze the rubber fingers against the tab and tighten the thumb nuts. Squeeze enough to firmly hold the bracket in place, but not enough to damage your display. The HeadMouse attaches to the front of the tab using Dual Lock.
Notice the arms are rotated toward the center of the bracket in the photographs, but they can also be rotated out.
In addition to computers the universal brackets can also accomodate tablets.
Tobii DynaVox: Even though one of the universal brackets can be used, custom brackets will soon be available for the Tobii DynaVox T10, T15, Vmax, and Maestro. These brackets are designed to match the contours and dimensions of each device.
