OPTIR Touch can turn almost any computer imaged surface into a touch interactive device. The "computer imaged surface" is like flat panel displays (LCD, LED, Plasma), all-in-one PC, projection screen, video wall, whiteboard or white wall - up to 200" diagonally. It is compatible with Windows, Mac, Linux and Android.
On standard PC monitor or all-in-one PC.
On large format displays which can be a standard TV with PC input port (VGA or HDMI).
On video wall, projected whiteboard or white wall.
Embedded IR sensors inside our OPTIR Touch frame emit and receive invisible infrared light beams in front of the computer imaged surface. Whenever your finger or an object breaks through this light grid, it is seen as a touch point which is same as a left mouse click. Your touch can also perform all the standard tablet gestures and multi touch funcations.
All KEYTEC’s OPTIR Touch perform basic mouse emulation (controls your mouse cursor) and 2-touch gestures in Windows 7 or higher regardless of which model you purchase.
Since the introduction of Windows 7 onto tablets or other touch devices, Users will come to know two common 2-touch gestures: pinch-and-zoom to enlarge or a two-finger rotation to move and image. These two types of 2-touch gestures have made there way up to the latest version of Windows 8 and will continue on.
Windows 8 further introduced additional swipe and multi-finger touch support within the OS. Although Windows 8 does support multi-touch, 3rd party programs you install may not. This is important to consider so you can determine what model you really need. We offer our OPTIR Touch HCMT model with 4, 6, 10 and so on (up to 40) simultaneous touches.
How do you install it?
We have a variety of models that are perfect for external mounting (Add-On), or for integration (Built-In) into custom displays, kiosks, or similar. The external add-on models will either come with Velcro straps, or adjustable hangers, or custom mounting for easy mounting. There are also some optional mounting accessories available, such as metal brackets or magnet straps typically used for mounting on whiteboard or wall.
The integrators will typically only need the touch screens without any accessories as they will have their own mounting design built into the system.
Do I need a Glass Backing?
Glass backing is not required for the OPTIR Touch to work. However, adding a glass backing can:
1. Protect your display from being touched directly which may result in potential damage to the display.
2. Decrease the amount of the gap between the invisible IR grid and the displays top surface in order to optimize the User experience with a touch interactive device. When the gap is too big, the user may get confused when a mouse clicking (by touching the screen) is recognized as dragging.
Although it is not required, when the OPTIR Touch is mounted in front of a display with a cover bezel, adding a backing glass is recommended. KEYTEC can ship the OPTIR Touch with or without the glass, and we do provide the dimensional information of the glass for each model and size, so the customer can purchase from their local glass shop. The tempered glass is recommended, but Plexiglas or similar may be used instead as long as it can remain flat, scratch resistant coating is highly recommended when selecting Plexiglas or other plastic material.
A glass or plastic backing is usually not needed when mounting the OPTIR Touch to a projection screen, whiteboard or wall.
